|
|
Hello, I purchased Poker Academy last night and was a little disappointed to discover the Poki bot was a limit hold'em specialist.
Is this to say if I make a no limit table and create my own opponents, all using Poki, that they will play erratic or that I won't be getting the MOST out of their poki-based AI? Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Poki the only "adaptive" bot available in PA? That seems to be the true selling point of the simulator as far as I can see, and if I must use it for limit hold 'em only, so be it --- I'll take my beatings in THAT game instead. But I guess what I'm saying is I'd still really, really like to play against Poki in no limit and I'd like to know if doing that is a waste of my time.
Also, are the designers of this simulation affiliated with Stacked in any way, or is it just their engine? I'm getting Stacked the day it's released and I'd like to know if Poki will also be a "no limit" specialist in that title as well, or if a revision of Poki will be designed to give us the full experience in no limit play as well.
Thanks!

| There's a bit of confusing here because STACKED is using the brand 'Poki' to refer to our entire suite of AI -- for limit and no-limit. In Poker Academy, while 'Poki' is also an umbrella term, it is also the name of a specific AI engine for ring-game limit play. All of the AI is tied into the 'Poki' system, but 'Pokibot' is one specific AI engine. Poker Academy Pro has 8 different AI engines to play against. Hope that clears things up for you. |

so pro has a dedicated no limit ai specalist?
I was just reading a post on suggestions for upcoming releases and it said they were working on improving the nl ai.
Does that mean as of now it is weak? |

Aaron, it clears things up ... somewhat.
I guess I am confused where we get into the discussion on adaptive play. Adaptive, as I understand it, means the AI learns from my playing tendencies. I also understand from playing around with character creation that some AIs are adaptive and some aren't. The overall Poki system (as opposed to the specific Pokibot AI) has some adaptive limit specialists and some non-adaptive no limit specialists. Is this much correct?
If I have that much right, could you take a moment to talk about how adaptive limit specialist bots (like Pokibot) might fare in a no-limit game? No Limit is the game I'm trying most to improve, and while I do not doubt the competence of any of these AI bots, I would most like to learn the no limit game from an AI opponent who is also learning, and adapting, from my game.
Thank you for taking the time to run this forum and answer the many questions (surely many of which are repeats a hundred times over). If only more software companies did likewise.

I'd like to know that as well, which NL bots in the current version will adapt to our play?

| Currenty, XenBot and Averybot have rudimentary opponent modelling. They won't adapt to the same extent our limit AI does, but they will adapt their play as much as they are able. |
