My question, hopefully, is a simple one. I am biting at the bit to purchase the new Pro 2.0 software, but I am wondering if I should wait.
I have heard so much buzz about the new software Stacked, that I am wondering if I should wait and purchase that instead when it comes out in Sept.
My question is, does anyone know if Stacked is going to be a learning tool or more geared towards entertainment? I know both use the same AI from Canada. But I know little about Stacked, other than the graphics will have Daniel, Edog and company as some of the players.

Any help would be appreciated. I dont want entertained, I want to improve my game. But if Stacked does both, it sounds attractive. But I thought I also heard Stacked is just tournaments and obviously I want to improve my cash games as much as my tournament skills

Quietly awaiting a reply,

Brik

Stacked is an entertainment game for the Xbox. I expect it will have great production values, and be a good show, but it is not a learning tool.

PA 2.0 is by far the best learning tool available on the market (and will almost certainly continue to be for a long time to come).

Thank you darse for the quick repy.
They say Stacked is for the computer too and that you can play other players online like Pro 2.0
But, I am making this too difficult, I know. Everyone I have spoken with says Pro 2.0 is great.
I just didnt want to spend the $119 dollars on Pro 2.0 and in a month find out that Stacked is just as good with better graphics and the famous players. But, as i said, I am thinking to much about, I just need to get it and start learning

I just got PAP2 a few days ago and was thinking the same thing. Stacked is due out in September (or was it October?) and will easily be half of PAP2's price. But from what I've seen, it's going to be more about all the glitz and glamour of poker. One review site said you'll need to pay attention to the players movements to discover any tells - bleh!

It's no doubt going to be a big hit and I'll be sure to get a copy as soon as it comes out, but my guess is that it's not as much of a learning tool as PAP2 is. It seems as if one hand might take quite a while, while each player says some bullshit computer-generated comment or scratches his nose or something - but maybe you'll be able to turn these features off.

From what I've seen, these guys who designed PAP2 are commited to making the best poker software available. While Stacked might devote it's resources towards fancier graphics, the PA-Pro crew will be busy beefing up statistics and customizable features and things to make your game better. And PAP2 is very much open architecture, so people can build add-ons and new bots - I would doubt that Stacked would do this. So while Stacked is using the AI of today, PA-Pro is constantly improving theres for us to download.

Get PAP2 Wink

Wow!
What a change of pace to come to a forum and actually get good solid answers to your questions instead of a bunch of kids seeing which one can be the most witty with their flames and witty comments.
Thanks again guys for the speedy responses
I'm sold !!!

I downloaded the free trial, but I am going to order the hard copy because I am going to be getting a new computer in a month or so and think thats the best way to go.
Did you download at their site or order the hardcopy in the box? Any differences in the two?

I know what you mean. Poker seems to attract the biggest assholes in the world and they all love to chat on forums. It would be nice if we can make this forum both mature and popular.

I downloaded, had it up and running 2 minutes after I gave my credit card info. The one difference that I know about is that if you download it, you can install it on two seperate machines. But if you buy the hardcopy, you can install it on as many machines as you want - but you need the CD in the drive for it to work.

Phil,
when you say you need the cd in the drive for it to work, you dont be always do you? That would be annoying to me. It would seem like you could purchase the cd, and load it on your computer. Tell me if im wrong here, but you should be able to copy from the cd to your hard drive? if you cant, that may effect my decision to buy the down load or the cd

Yeah it's annoying, but this is industry standard nowadays, all PC-games you buy in the stores do it this way. It prevents piracy.

I'd definitely download the application. If you ever switch to another PC, you simply contact them and they'll give you another license free of charge (I believe this is how it works)

you will find the PA guys are more than fair with activations.

the Poki AI in Stacked is excellent - after all, it came from PA.

but, there are a dozen flavours of AI in PA, and the incremental improvements to each AI flow directly via updates to the PA customer base.

so, Stacked will be a very cool game, but PA (esp. Pro) will continue to be the finest learning tool available for a serious player.
