What's the best play on the river? Villains stats are very weak/tight.
Full Tilt Poker $0.10/$0.25 No Limit Hold'em - 9 players
BB: $20.93
UTG: $12.95
UTG+1: $24.70
UTG+2: $38.51
MP1: $36.32
MP2: $26.58
CO: $36.09
BTN: $18.50
Hero (SB): $25.49
Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is SB with Q Q
4 folds, MP2 raises to $0.75, 2 folds, Hero calls $0.65, 1 fold
Flop: ($1.75) 7 5 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 bets $1, Hero calls $1
Turn: ($3.75) 7 (2 players)
Hero checks, MP2 checks
River: ($3.75) T (2 players)
Hero bets $3, MP2 raises to $10.44, Hero ?? |

You floated his Flop CB and checked behind on the turn. WHY?
That said, I would call the river and not bang it since your turn play is a pot control move. Dont muddythe styles. _________________ Look mommy, I won a hand! I love poker now!!! |

WTF are you doing?
This is like watching two pacifists settle an argument by whacking each other with feathers.
Weak-tight-passive does not get the money.
3bet preflop
raise flop
bet turn
call river |

I'm no Nancy when it comes to putting my chips in the middle, but:

Only opens a very small range of hands. Only puts a penny in the pot when he thinks he has best hand.
But if we differ, had you suffered a momentary brain fart and played it this way up to the river - how do you play 5th street?
The river raise caught me by surprise. What range do you think this type of player is raising on the river and looking to get stacks in?

Aks, I checked the turn OOP planning to check-raise. When he checked behind I quickly put him on AK.
The flop play is something I do sometimes out of position. I checked to see what my opponent would do. It's part pot control and I'm not usually looking to play a monster pot with one pair OOP.

If he's that tight, there are basically no sevens in his opening range, other than 77.
As played, why bet the river? What's he going to call with?
I'd check the river, and he'll either check behind with his AK, or maaaaaybe he'll value bet a pair. If he does bet you can call figuring that he's slightly more likely to have 88-QQ than KK, AA, or 77.
I'm not going to put my stack in against this guy without the nuts. You beat nut-peddlers like this guy by bleeding them to death, not by going for the big kill. Steal his blinds, 3bet his opens, cbet, etc. He'll fold away his net worth trying to cooler you. |
